Our Teas

Established in 1985, Red Blossom Tea Company is San Francisco’s premier source for artisanal tea and teaware.

We are direct importers, traveling each year to the tea gardens that produce our range of premium whole leaf teas. During our sourcing trips, we focus on provenance, variety, season, and craft as our guide to the best crops.

Founded by the Luong family in San Francisco's diverse Chinatown neighborhood, our company was originally known as Yau Hing (meaning 'to flourish again'), a nod to our community's immigrant background and the opportunity we received for a fresh start in this country.

While our family business has evolved over the years, one thing hasn't changed: our dedication to sourcing the highest quality tea and teaware available.

We offer a selection of nearly 100 teas and a knowledgeable staff to guide your discovery. We invite you to browse our full collection here online, and join us on YouTube to hone your tea knowledge.

How We Source Our Teas

We acquire our tea and teaware from a community of growers and artisans at origin. Each year, we schedule our annual buying trip to coincide with the spring tea harvest. Our visits take us throughout the major tea growing regions of China, including Fujian, Anhui, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Yunnan, and Jiangsu Provinces, as well as the high elevation tea mountains of Taiwan. Sourcing in person gives us full control over the quality of our harvests.

Finding a naturally flavorful crop of tea that meets our standards is only the beginning of our sourcing process. To ensure food safety, sustainability, and the cleanest possible infusions, we batch test our teas through SGS for over 400 pesticides, heavy metals, and chemical residues. These teas aren't just products to us, they are also what we enjoy on a daily basis. As such, we want to be confident that they are clean, safe, and healthful.
