Bright and zesty with a luscious mouthfeel, Purple Bamboo (so named for its resemblance to bamboo leaves) has been a popular choice in China since the Tang Dynasty, when it first earned renown as an imperial tribute tea.

Our crop is cultivated 3,300 feet above sea level in an organic tea farm near Hangzhou. The tea is entirely hand-harvested in early spring, using only the unopened leaf bud and the first leaf at the tip of each branch. After harvest, the leaves are immediately dried with a gentle roast, ensuring an infusion that is wonderfully bright, sweet, and devoid of bitterness.

Longjing, or "dragonwell" is perhaps China's most famous tea style, a green tea created by roasting freshly harvested tea leaves against a hot pan. This direct-contact heat caramelizes sugars in the leaf, producing a distinctly toasted and nutty taste that complements the freshness of the leaves.

Our Pre-rain Dragonwell is harvested in early April before China's Guyu rain festival, ensuring the leaves are young, fresh, and sweet. The end result is a tea perfect for daily indulgence, with a hearty toasted aroma, full bodied flavor, and a finish that clings to the palate.
