Handcrafted by Taiwanese master ceramicist Xu De Jia, this striking tea bowl is formed from local clay and finished in a unique scarlet and black glaze.
The shape and glaze are both inspired by traditional Song Dynasty tianmu or jian ware. Details include a subtle indentation just below the bowl's rim to conform to one's lower lip and the artist's stamp on the underside of the foot. The bowl is heavily potted, offering a satisfying weight in the hands and superior heat retention for your favorite teas. This unique piece is a one-of-one release from our private collection and will not be offered again.
All volumes are measured to the brim. Functional volume may vary.
volume 13.5 oz/400 ml • height 3" • diameter 5"
Using a tea bowl is one of the simplest ways to brew tea - Just add tea leaves, top with hot water, and wait for the leaves to sink to the bottom of the bowl as they re-hydrate. For best results, use a whole leaf tea with low tannin content.
