Handcrafted from dark clay and glazed with a milky blue-green celadon, we commissioned this tea bowl from nationally acclaimed Taiwanese master ceramicist, Xu De Jia.
The shape is inspired by traditional tianmu tea bowls, but is updated with a Ru-style celadon glaze. Details include a subtle indentation just below the bowl's rim to conform to one's lower lip, a slight bevel above the foot, and the artist's stamp on the underside of the bowl. The result is a balanced profile and an exceptionally tactile experience, offering a satisfying weight and satiny feel in the hands. A complex web of craquelure runs through the glaze of each bowl in a unique pattern; barely visible when new, these lines will darken with use to create a beautiful patina.

Using a tea bowl is one of the simplest ways to brew tea - Just add tea leaves, top with hot water, and wait for the leaves to sink to the bottom of the bowl as they re-hydrate. For best results, use a whole leaf tea with low tannin content.
