Handcrafted from light clay and glazed with a sapphire blue celadon, these plates were commissioned in 2017 from Taiwanese ceramicist Xu De Jia. They are perfect for holding a single teapot while brewing, and will elegantly contain any minor spills or overflow.
The shape of the plate brings to mind chrysanthemum petals, while the sapphire blue celadon is slightly under-fired to create a smooth, satiny feel. This traditional style of glaze replicates the work from the renowned Song dynasty Ru kiln. A complex web of crazing covers the teapot. Barely visible when new, these lines will deepen in color with use.
