This year, we're offering a new take on our classic Monkey Picked Tieguanyin. Specially-comissioned for Red Blossom, Monkey Picked Tieguanyin, Double Roast is bolder expression of Anxi Oolong, with notes of toasted nuts and burnt caramel balanced by a rich and mellow finish.

Harvested in spring, the leaf is 30% oxidized by bruising the leaves in a bamboo drum before allowing them to wither. Once the proper degree of oxidation is achieved, the leaves are given two cycles of gentle roasting, producing a depth and richness that sets this tea apart from our other Tieguanyins.

Both unexpected and familiar, Monkey Picked Tieguanyin, Double Roast is perfect as a cozy morning brew or an afternoon pick-me-up.

  • Brewing Guide

Traditional Tieguanyins are appreciated for their intense finishes, and are typically brewed towards that end, usually with a heavier hand and higher temperatures.

To brew Double Roast, we suggest using approximately 5 grams of tea leaves steeped at 200 degrees. Give the tea an initial 1 second rinse, then let steep for about 2 minutes. Decant once the leaf clusters are halfway to two-thirds open. Steep the second infusion for 2 minutes, gradually increasing steep time for subsequent infusions.
