Handcrafted from light clay and glazed with a sapphire blue celadon, this unique plate was commissioned from Taiwanese ceramicist Xu De Jia. With drainage holes in the center, this plate will hold a pot neatly above spillage on a larger tray. Place atop one of Xu De Jia's Incense Bowls for a complete brewing station.
The shape of the plate brings to mind chrysanthemum petals, while the sapphire blue celadon is slightly under-fired to create a smooth, satiny feel. This traditional style of glaze replicates the work from the renowned Song dynasty Ru kiln. A complex web of crazing covers the teapot. Barely visible when new, these lines will deepen in color with use.
